Imran sends defamation notice to Kh Asif
ISLAMABAD, Sep 04 (Online): Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Imran Khan has issued a Legal Notice to Khawaja Asif
for the defamation of his Character through false allegations on major media outlets on August 1, 2012. According to the
notice Khawaja Asif is legally liable for each instance of the publication, republication, broadcast, re-broadcast, and receipt
communication and reporting of the defamatory material uttered along with false allegations. he legal notice also states that
Khawaja Asif has purposely made insidious remarks on Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust alleging that its Chairman Imran
Khan has indulged in money laundering.It says that Khawaja Asif has insidiously alleged misuse of the ndowment Fund of
the Shaukat Khanum Hospital to discredit the integrity and transparency of affairs at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust. He
incited and induced the public at large all over Pakistan and he rest of the world to not make any donations to Shaukat Khanum
Memorial Trust. By this action you have caused harm to not only this national institution but also the poor and indigent patients
who rely upon the financial sustenance of Zakat donations for their treatment, the notice says. The legal notice goes on to add that
given the eminent public standing Imran Khan enjoys as the founder and chairman of the Board of Shaukat Khanum Memorial
Trust and a political leader in whom a growing number of Pakistanis have immense faith, you have tried to cause harm to his
impeccable reputation. The legal notice to Khawaja Asif demands an unconditional apology and payment of damages for the
defamation caused in Pakistan and around the world by these scurrilous allegations.

PPP believes in supremacy of Parliament: Kaira
ISLAMABAD, Sept 03 (Online): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qmar Zaman Kaira on Monday said that
the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) believed in the supremacy of Parliament. Talking to a private news channel, Qamar Zaman
Kaira said that President Asif Ali Zardari had transferred the powers to the Parliament to stabilize the democratic process in
the country. He said that the PPP government gave the rights to the provinces through 7th NFC Award and 18th Constitutional
Amendment. Replying to a question, the Information Minister said that the Punjab Chief Minister was leading demonstrations
against the federation and destroying public properties in the province. He advised the Punjab government to streamline its
affairs. Kaira said that the politics of blame-game should be stopped and asked the PML-N to help find solution of problems
through dialogue. Answering another question, he said that the PPP had formed a commission regarding the creation of new
provinces on the demand of the PML-N but now the latter had back-tracked.

Foreign elements involved in Balochistan unrest: Malik
ISLAMABAD, Sept 03 (Online): Minister for Interior Rehman Malik said on Monday that foreign elements were involved in the
Balochistan unrest and killing incidents in Gilgit-Baltistan. Talking to reporters outside the Parliament House here, he said, “We
have sufficient proof that foreign hands are involved in the unrest of Balochistan and killing incidents in Gilgit-Baltistan.” He
said that there were credible reports that terrorists were entering Pakistan from Afghanistan and urged the latter to stop cross-
border infiltration. He said that the people who wanted to de-stabilize the country would not success in their nefarious designs.
Rehman Malik said that the elements involved in the heinous crime of terrorist attacks would be brought to justice as they were
enemies of humanity, country and Islam. Replying to a question, he said that there was no Shia-Sunni conflict, but a third force
was involved in creating instability in the country. The Interior Minister said that due to the steps taken by the government, the
law and order situation had much improved as compared to the previous regime.

Khar , German Defence Minister discuss Afghan issue
Berlin, Sept 4 (Online): Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar called on the German Minister for Defence Thomas de
Maizière here on Tuesday. In an hour long meeting which was held in an atmosphere of cordiality and spirit of
cooperation, the two ministers expressed their satisfaction over growing ilateral cooperation in the field of Defence. They
expressed the confidence that the MoU on bilateral defence cooperation, signed earlier this year, would help promote bilateral
cooperation in defence. The two ministers also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan. Meanwhile Foreign Minister
Hina Rabbani Khar also met the Vice Chairman Foreign elations Committee of the German Parliament Mr. Hans-Ulrich Klose.
They discussed Pakistan-Germany bilateral relations, regional and international situation and Pakistan-Germany parliamentary
relations. The Foreign Minister mentioned that Germany friendship group in akistan Parliament headed by Speaker National
Assembly, has been established n the Parliament. Mr. Klose and Khar agreed on the need to establish a Pakistan Friendship
Group in the German parliament. They also agreed on having more frequent parliamentary exchanges between the two countries.
Foreign Minister expressed the hope that President of German Parliament would soon visit Pakistan
on the outstanding invitation of Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly. Briefing Klose on recent parliamentary developments
in Pakistan, Foreign Minister said that the Parliament of Pakistan had adopted the long overdue amendments to Pakistan’s 1973
constitution to undo the distortions which had been introduced to it by dictatorial regimes. This had restored the federal character
of the constitution. har said that the democracy in Pakistan was taking roots and for the first time in Pakistan history a democratic
transition of government would take place through election. The meeting ended with a vow to further the bilateral relations,
especially through frequent parliamentary exchanges.

Iranian gas will flow in Pakistan from Dec 2014: Dr Asim
ISLAMABAD, Sep 4(Online): The Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain has revealed a timeline for
the construction work on the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. Dr Hussain, in a written reply in the National Assembly said
the surveys for the project is due to be completed before October 2012 and construction can start as early as December 2012.
The pipeline will start supplying 750 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMCFD) starting from December 2014, he added.
